music usage

I have recently had to replace my old computer and therefore imported music from an external hard drive. When trying to listen to it or make a CD with it , permission to play it is sought without results. Message says not connected to the internet which is not true. How can I turn this permission seeking off? All of the music is legal.

First, did you copy the files, or the links? Second, if they are files, what are their permissions? Third, can you play other music? What are you using to listen?

they are actual files and I don't know the permissions and when a cd is inserted it will play with Media player
