IF

win 7 is more stable, less buggy, more efficient with resources (especially in 32bit) has tons more dirvers, has a lot of cool gui things, and im running it now.

iif I can run it on a P-IV 3.0ghz dell with 2 gigs of ram and 256mb video with no problems it will run on almost anything.

Personaly i wouldnt go out and buy win7 just yet.
sure it has a perfomance increase but if your not a tech savy user the slight perfomance increase wont matter. i have both win7 and vista and they both run very well. after i installed SP2 for vista i havent had any problems with it.

win7 offers a faster boot time which many pple go on about but only if your... about the extra 10-17 secs then you would want win7. also you can boost vista boot time by following the vista tutorials on this site. the GUI is a cool new feature in win7 except for "areo shake". plus you can always add third party software to get the same features and look in vista. the only thing that i see as a great change is the control over the UAC. (not as much alerts)

Personally i dont think its worth dropping a cool $120 - $220 on right now. i would wait till next year when price gose down or more fixes are made to win7, which ever comes first.

I tried 7 64 bit on my machine and it felt like Vista64 with a W7 taskbar. That's the only difference I noticed. If you go to 32 bit 7 you may lose use of some of that 4 GB.

To me Vista64 with SP1 runs smooth. I wouldn't bother unless you have some specific hw you know will run better with the 7 drivers.

Why not? I'll be getting an upgrade for virtually nothing and if it breaks I'll get a retail and do a clean install. 64-bit is the future and drivers will be available anyway.

It will go through the same pattern as all other OS upgrades. It will have some initial bugs and problems, they will issue SP1, SP2 and it will be as stable as Vista (which now is very stable).
