    Lost Missing "Date Picture Taken"

After I edit my pictures, I can sometimes lose the "date Picture Taken" on. It does not show on the Details View. If I copy the file to a flash drive then look at it using Windows XP I can see it on a details view but not in Vista.

    Confused.

I seem to lose the DATE more so if the file is greater than 2000KB

Can you tag file with metadata at the bottom of the screen.

Sorry if I am not that advanced but how would I know how my flash (pen) drive is formatted? It is a PNY.

When you ask if I can add metadata at the bottom of the screen, I do not understand that if I am just clicking on the file to open the file of many pictures to see a detailed view of all the file names.

I am using VISTA on my computer. When I copy the files from my computer to my pen drive and then look at them as a detailed list view to see all the names of the files, then I can also see the date to picture was taken on. That was not showing up in VISTA.

Yes I have and have had that column checked, on, activated.

That is the 'lost' part. It doesn't always show me the date after I edit the picture.

I can see it on XP not on VISTA.

When you click the picture once, what do you see at the bottom of the screen, with all the tag info?

If you are refering to clicking on it and seeing the small window that pops up to say size, JPEG etc then no it is not there. If there is somewhere else to see it, I do not.

Re: Lost Missing "Date Picture Taken"

I have the same issue when copying files to my USB hard disk from my USB camcorder.
When the two are connected to my XP machine the "Date modified" in Explorer is preserved.
When the two are connected to my Vista machine the "Date Modified" in Explorer is set to the time of the copy.
    *OS Vista Home Premium 32bit

I have ticked every "date" in Explorer and none of them are the original one from the Camcorder.
Here are the results of a recent example
    XP/Camcorder date 1/12/2011 (dd/mm/ccyy)
    Date 4/12/2011
    Date Accessed 3/03/2012
    Date acquired blank
    Date archived blank
    date completed blank
    Date created 4/12/2011
    Date last saved 2/01/2012
    Date modified 2/01/2012
    Date received blank
    Date released blank
    Date sent blank
    Date taken blank
    Date visited blank

    Second related issue.
What is doubly annoying is the the file names use 0 to 9 and A to F.
I'm OK with this but again explorer (both XP and Vista) put A to F before 0 to 9 when I sort by file name.
    e.g.
    MOV00A
    -- snip --
    MOV00F
    MOV001
    -- snip --
    MOV009
