Gigabyte GA-M55SLI-S4
AMD Athlon 64x2 5200+
OS : Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit
4 GB DDR2
Current GPU : Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT (passive cooled)

I don't know where to begin, I am having some major problems with Vista atm, however the thing that is bugging me the most, is the sluggish behaviour of vista, not only when opening a programme.

But more importantly to me anyways, is the latency I am having when I play Warcraft 3.... NB NOT WoW.

I have had Vista Installed now maybe 2 months 3 maximum. And I have never experienced lag playing Warcraft 3 like this before

Any suggestions as to why Vista is being a snail?

By being sluggish Im assuming you dont mean high ping so lets start with looking in event viewer (type event in search) go to the windows logs>applications tab. Look for errors (they have red in the left column) that have the game listed. they are there. look for app hung, app crash, etc. when you find them tell us waht the event ID and cause codes are.

There are no errors within the game itself. But where would you like me to start with the other errors

Well it looks like you are having audio problems and winamp problems

Do you have a backup we can restore from?

Do you have the vista dvd?

Is there anything on that HD that you cant live without?

Actually there are things we can still do. Just wanted to make sure you have dvd,etc in case.

First things I would do if I were you is to run a system file checker. to do that you go to start>search>type cmd>right click and run as admin>type sfc /scannow

let us know the results

So vista is only "sluggish" in game/games? have you ever worked with performance monitor?

What I would like to do is set up some things to watch, let it run and then jump into the game. Play the game until it starts getting sluggish and save the performance monitor data.

What resolution and refresh rate are you using? full screen?

Are you sure you have the right driver for the card installed? that may be causeing the excesively low FPS >.<

I know my 9800GTX pulls 120FPS on COD4, Considering the human eye can on see at 100FPS you wont be able to tell the difference between 100FPS and higher.

Let's stress test your card. After benchmarking this, you can compare to the other video driver you liked.

I scored 159 in the Benchmark test

Oh, I forgot to mention in the Nvidia Control Panel Under the Manage 3D settings I turned off Vertical sync, and the latency in Warcraft 3 has improved dramatically. As far a tweaking goes, I personally would rather not use the Riva Tuner.
