acer 5315

Having purchased a used acer 5315 I have spent days trying to do a fresh install of vista. I have a premium vista disc and the basic serial number is on the acer.
Have been through the bios loads of times but each time I end up back at the same place with windows telling me it cannot find the hd and that I need to install drivers. Has anyone had success in doing a clean installation on an acer laptop.
Thanks very much in hope.

The HD vista needs drivers for is it internal, or external?

Thank you all very much for the advice. To clarify - when vista gets to the part about choosing which drive to install to etc - the box is empty - it does not see the drive....
Going by the above suggestions - do I need to install a Sata driver first by downloading from the acer sight....
Also i think the acer has been changed around a lot - there appears to be only one drive letter "C" - nothing else - otherwise the acer is fine except exceedingly slow and still full of junk. I never had this much trouble with my desktop so please bear with me.
Thanks again....

Hello
Do you mean the Intel Matrix RAID f6 method where it says this does not apply to Vista...
Also do I need to find my motherboard bios settings...
Sorry to go on but the instructions start with the Bios advance settings which I do not have.
Thanks

PS I have downloaded the SATA driver but where do I go from here please. Do I just copy it to a disc or do I open/execute it first then copy to a disc.

Further update I tried to add the Sata drive from a portable hd via the USB port and the acer found the file but would not go any further... this is the file name...
IMSM_Intel_v7.6.0.1011...

Is there some thing I need to do to the file first please...

2 USB HDD

4 IDE 1 HL DT ST DVDRAM GSA T20N
5 USB FDD

Downloaded your link and unzipped the file.
My file names match yours on my portable HD with usb plug
