Windows Photo Gallery problem

I use Windows Photo Gallery to store and fix my photos. Early last year I backed up all my photos on CD using the "burn" option in Photo Gallery. A couple months later my hard drive crashed and I was thrilled that I had backed up all those photos. Problem. I'm trying to import them from CD into Photo Gallery again and it can't read them. When I put in a disk it looks like there is nothing on it. However, it shows there is only 300 mb of space left on it. It is a 700 mb CD. If you turn it over, you can see that something was burned onto about 2/3 of it.

Autorun is how I originally tried to import these, but since that didn't work I went to PHoto Gallery to try to do it that way. But when I use the import option it only allows me to import from a camera or scanner. I went to Options to change the option to CD/DVD rather than Camera/scanner. I click OK (there is no apply option), but when I got back to import I only get the camer/scanner option.

What am I doing wrong, and why can't I get my photos off my CD's? If I've lost these thousands of photos forever, I'll be crushed.

BTW, I use Carbonite now so I have another backup. Lesson learned!

My Computer

1. Go to Photo Gallery
2. Click "File"
3. Click "Options"
4. Click "Import"
5. Use Down Arrow and select "DVD's and CD's" instead of Camera
5. Click "Browse"
6. Click "Computer"
7. Find your CD/DVD Drive and select it. You will now be able to import those pictures.
