Hello, was wondering what is wrong with my computer.

I recently upgraded my computer, and did a clean install of Vista 64. But since yesterday i'm getting lots of crashes resulting in a blue screen.
Here is the window i get when i get back to vista :

The middle one looks like a hardware problem. Hence, in-depth software troubleshooting on the others becomes a bit pointless. Suggestions:

1) Apply Service Pack 2 (your machine is on SP1).
2) Update the video driver. One of the crashes is in the rendering subsystem.
3) Run memtest til the thing bleeds. What is most important in this situation is to find or rule out the possibility of unreliable hardware.

Still can't figure out what could cause this ... i'm guessing the Motherboard since i read it's having some severe issues with RAM compatibility.

That's an ATI driver issue. You have updated video drivers?

I had to reduce my Ram to get past the BSOD:

10-19-09 to Foxconn support:
Problem: BSOD at boot; reducing memory from 6GB to 2GB fixed
System came with 6GB of memory, but after about 1 month, the Blue Screen, with various stop codes, would not let me get into Vista64. Only fix that worked for me was to eliminate the two-2GB dimms and run only with the two-1GB dimms. No further problems after that.
Do you have any other suggestions to allow the memory to be reinstalled? Not sure if problem was associated with any Microsoft patches or any other software updates or installations -- I did not see any associations. Some people claim power supply is too small, or BIOS is not right for Vista 64bit, or is memory bad...Unifosa memory is not listed by Foxconn for A7vmx-k.
I appreciate any help you can suggest for this ongoing problem. Gateway referred me to you. let me know if you need any other information on the system.

Thank you for contacting Foxconn technical service.
SInce the motherboard you listed above A7VMX-K does support Dual channel DDR2 1066**/800/667/533 x 2 DIMMs, Max. 4GB, we wonder what is your motherboard model name exactly, please refer to the attached picture to identify the name.
Usually, we do not recommend different brands, size, or frequency on the motherboard to achieve dual channel.
Please plug in the ram sticks of the same brand/size/speed/module in the dimm slots of the same color.
Best regards,Foxconn Technical Support

my reply: Thank you for the reply. Sorry the board s/n was not included before. The whole bar code number is:
ULVE82004568 PC RS780M03G18EKRS2HM
Again, this is a Gateway dx4200-u001a system purchased July,08. 2009/10/09

Thank you very much for your serial number that provided.
Your motherboard seems to be OEM/ODM product that we are not authorized to support for endusers, you'd better ask the vendor for help.
For your information, please use both two-2GB dimms or two-1GB dimms to run the dual channel stably.
Best regards,Foxconn Technical Support

my reply: The vendor, Gateway, was not helpful in resolving the problem when it occurred under warranty. I gave up at that point. However, when I contacted Gateway again, they recommended that I contact Foxconn. Now I am in a "catch-22" where neither the vendor nor the manufacturer wish to support the product.

I have used the ram in all combinations of 1gb's together or 2gb's together and only the 2x1gb worked.
It is funny that Foxconn says memory is limited to 4GB, when Gateway installed 6GB! There are 4 slots, not 2. Confusion everywhere.
I am switching to an ASUS motherboard to see if it can handle the extra memory.

Yes, latest drivers from ATI...

Maybe i should remove them completely and reinstall them. Can you give me some tips on how to do that properly? I don't want to mess it up, and be sure i'm doing it all right.

Uninstall drivers, reboot in safe mode and execute driver cleaner?

Well i've run the vista memory test, and it indicated a "hardware problem". So it must be the memory right? How do i know wich of the two ram's is faulty?

Pull half and re-run. if it passes then do the other half.

Let us know the results

Ok so one memory is completely f**d up, it crashes instantly, and other crashes later in the test at like 86%. So it's going back to the shop where i bought it.

When testing with one memory, vista wouldn't even start, BSOD right away.

I have the same problem sort of. My computer keeps shuting down unexpectlly to protect data. It has happened six times.
