Solved vista x86 password nightmare. (long winded version) HELP!!!

Hello every1.

I'm having a problem that has me pulling my hair out and banging my head!
I have decent computer knowledge:geek:......But in this case, I'm at a lost.

THE CULPRIT!!!
This past Friday, my 12 yr old daughter decided to create a user account for her (without asking) so my 10 yr old sonvdoesn't mess with her "Sims" game. Now MY user account (administrator) password doesn't work and the password she claims she put on her new user account doesn't either, and I did not have a password recovery cd, So I'm locked out out of C: NTK (308 Gb) partition.

THIS IS WHAT I'VE DONE SO FAR!!
I inserted my OEM vista home basic dvd to go thru "recover my computer" and do a system restore but came to find out that my dvd-rom drive is not spinning the disk (took it apart and cleaned the lense with alcohol etc) drive does not make
that buzzing/spinning sound as before when cd/dvd was inserted.
I booted up with D:RECOVERY (10GB) made a bootable USB drive with vista ISO
(a while back I made an ISO image of my OEM vista to make copies in case original got lost or scratched) changed BIOS to boot from "removeable" and I was able to
access "recover my computer" but when I click on system restore, it asks for password, so there goes that idea.
Also tried CMD on the "recover my computer" user interface and typed: (C:\> net users) and it only shows "Nano1" which is the admin account for the RECOVERY partition ( stupidly forgot that by using my D:RECOVERY to boot up, it becomes C:)
so I tried (D:\ net users) and again it only shows "nano1" also tried (D:\Windows system32>net users Administrator \active:yes) and it says operation completed sucessfully, after reboot on C:NTK drive there is no admin account available
then tried(D:\Windows system32>net users Nano2 /add *) and still nothing.
Downloaded the "offline NT password and registry" followed instructions to make a USB flash drive(formated drive to FAT32) restart computer boot it from usb it starts loading (all the white letters etc) then it just freezes, wont let me do
anything, tried it several times and it always freezes at same spot, so tried the download again, reformat the USB drive and it did the exact same thing, so I decided to make a bootable ISO image of the "offline NT password and registry" had to reformat USB drive back to NTFS and add it the ISO booted from USB and viola! same crap happens.

SPECS!!
I have an Acer aspire 5535 laptop, core duo 2.4, 3 gb ram, 320 HDD, 256 MB Ati 3400HD video card, vista home basic, HDD
partitioned in 2 drives, C: NTK (308 GB) and D: RECOVERY (10GB) both partitions bootable and with vista home basic.
C: NTK (505MB free) D:RECOVERY (5.7GB free) Original OEM 250GB HDD was replaced by the 320GB therefore there is not a
factory recovery setting (ie: press ctrl+f10 at boot up) so there is no way to resize 308GB partition and back up data due
to lack of space, unless I go buy a portable HDD back up and do a clean reinstall(via USB).....But hey I'm a single dad
with 2 kids, honestly, there is not play money :) and I no longer have 80% of the progs cd's to reinstall and updates.

SO............... am I missing something? did I do something wrong? is there a way to take control/delete/add user account from secondary partition/OS? or is there a way to do so thru CMD from the recovery partition? or how do I access or add
administrator account to main drive? perhaps bypass password on "recover my computer" user interface to do a system restore? or any other advise?

Thanks in advance

Nano

Hi Brink Thanks for your response and the welcome!

My nightmare is over!!!!!!!
I decided to try "method three" for the 6th time but this time instead of using my flash drive, just for ****s and giggles I used my T-mobile G1 cell phone (also doubles as a flash drive/storage device) and it worked like a charm, I was able to reset my password using "offline nt password & registry tool" and now I'm back in business.
Locked my daughter off the computer till further notice lol.

P.S. Checked my flash drive and it is on NTFS format and it only lets me format it to either NTFS or FAT32 format, while the G1 cell phone is FAT format so maybe FAT and FAT32 formats do make a difference.

Thanks every1
