Vista Ultimate freezes for 150 ms every 10 minutes after startup

I have Windows Vista Ultimate x64 installed, and the system freezes for 130000 -160000 microseconds every 10 minutes. This makes the system unable to play music or games when the system halts every 10 minutes. The gap of 10 minutes is exact to the second as far as I can see, so I suspect there is a scheduled task causing this to happen. Because of the gap between every time this happens, I have a hard time believing this is a hardware or driver failure.

This happens even when the system is running idle. The latency running idle is about 20 - 50 microseconds which is good enough for audio playback. With more programs running, including iTunes or Media player, this will reach latencies between 30 - 250 microseconds

Does anyone know of default vista processes performing a system or device check causing such latencies (or for that matter any processes running every 10 minutes)?
