I don't know why but I have reinstalled vist 32-bit 5 times and can't get a stable install this is from the disks that you get with an hp.can't delete files can't run sidebar it freezes everytime after a short while, whole computer freezes somtimes I can't even get the task manager to come up, windows explorer crashes all the time no viruses or spyware the installs were all new and clean these disks come direct from hp not the 1 you burn off when you get you'r pc:mad:

yes tried almost everything even clean install walkthru from tech support. The os that came with the pc has never been stable but the plain just windows install from the non hp upgrade disk works great however it don't have the driver for my ethernet card. Also the reason I downgraded back to the hp32-bit was to be more compatiable with some programs however this has backfired since the whole os is now unstable with the factory disk.

If you are still under warranty, then you might contact HP for a replacement if it's that unstable

yeah tried that when I was under warrenty however they lost my pc and had to send a new one wich has the same problems that's why I came here seem's like hp just ignores problems with thiere software answer is always new pc.To top it off bought a 2 year extendded warrenty asked if it ran concurrent with manufacturers warrenty they said no then two years later say it just enhanced the factory warrenty I don't see how though when I would have the same options on either warrenty. So my three year went to two after all and now I have no support and still have unstable os.Guess I'll have to go back to store bought windows. Thanks for trying to help though.

Oh, well if you already bought a retail Vista 64-bit, then that would be fine. Yes, your computer can handle Windows 7 just fine. It even has drivers available for it at the driver link above.

Might I add, it seems to me that hp does not send great copies of windows with their computers, since I have a few friends that got hp computers and they're unstable too, and mine, now 3 years old, was unstable with the XP that came with it. Since I run a store bought Vista on that computer, it's always been very stable.
