Vista - Vista product key

I dunno where this should belongs to,sorry if i posted in the wrong section.
Ok so 2-3 year ago i bought my computer and it gave me the vista disk aswell...
Then,last month,i bought a new computer and used that disk to install window vista,and today,i got a message asking me to type in the product key,but i lost it.
I tried to use programmes that find product key for you..but it didnt work,it gave me an error which is 0xC00e and something(i forgot im at school atm)
Can someone tell me where i can buy a product key but not the disk?all i want is the product key..and how much is it about?

Hello Martin,

You should have a sticker on the (bottom of a laptop or back of a desktop) with your product key number on it.

On a OEM (store bought) computer, you can only use the key number on that sticker on the same original computer to activate it. It cannot be used on another one.

It does seem a bit cheap, but they are a Microsoft Gold partner. It may be for a OEM copy as well.

You would have got errors because there would have been no key to find. Those key finders only show keys that have already been entered.

wtf..so i cant reformat on an OEM computer??that sucks..
What about i enter they same key with the same disk on another computer??

OEM is only licenced to be used on the original PC that it came with.

It won't work since the information on the OEM disc only works with the BIOS of the computer you bought it with. You're going to have to purchase a new OS.

For your other question, yes you may reformat and reinstall using that same Disc but only with the computer you bought it with.
