The «auto hide» is selected in taskbar options. The only way I can hide the taskbar is uncheck «auto hide», press «apply», check «auto hide», press «apply» again. This hides the taskbar until I move mouse to the bottom of the screen. Then I need again to reset «aout hide» option.
I have this problem since Windows 95 (98, Me, 2000, XP, now Vista).
