McAfee Security Center + backup reqiures .NET 1.1

    McAfee Security Center + backup reqiures .NET 1.1

    I have McAfee Security Center running on Vista Ultimate. When I try to use the backup and restore option I get a popup that says it requires .NET 1.1. I have .NET 3.5 installed. Contacting McAfee support get me different answers.

    The first contact just keep saying install .NET 1.1 and also says the back program will work with .NET 3.5. No help at all.

    The second contact said the backup program require .NET 1.1 and will not work with .NET 3.5, I need to uninstall .NET 3.5 and install .NET 1.1.



    I can not uninstall .NET 3.5 because I have another application that requires it.

    So does anybody have a good solution to this problem?

    Hello jca001,
    You don't need to un-install 3.5 to install 1.1.
    Just install 1.1 and it will update the parts it needs.

    Download details: .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package

    So you can have both installed at the same time?

    I asked McAfee support that several times and all the first contact said was install .NET 1.1.

    Well, Vista has .net, if you check your updates you will see .net 2, and .net 3.5, so really you don't need .net 1.1, but if the program is asking for it, then there may be something in the early one thats not in the later one.
    As you can see from the picture, you can have them all if you want, although some users have had problems installing 1.1.
