I have accidently deleted my user account off my laptop (vista home premium 32bit) but my files are still there in the user section of my hard drive. Can i recover it? If so how? I have only recently deleted it and I have another account with administrator privledges on it. Thanks in advance for your help.
Yes, you may still be able to restore it. Try this below to restore it:
Create a new administrator account
Copy the contents of the deleted account's C:\Users\(user-name) folders into the corresponding new account's C:\Users\(user-name) folders. This copy all of the deleted account's settings and shortcuts into the new account.
If everything checks out ok, you can delete the deleted account's C:\Users\(user-name) folder.
Thanks for the help, I will try that but I was wondering if there was a way to recover the actual account itself (the one that you log into) rather than creating a new one and copying the files. Also do the settings copy over when the files are copied? Will it get things like my desktop background and programs that I blocked at startup and other little things like that?
If you copy all of the contents in each folder in the second step, then it should. There may be a few minor things that may not be there though. You're basically converting the new account to be like the old account since the old account cannot be restored.
