Wrong EML & URL dates in Vista

EML files are saved in My Doc and URL files in My Favorite in my Vista Home Basic laptop. However, when I try to sync them by SyncBack with USB, it prompts me to overwrite them nearly every time because the modified date/time (for EMLs & URLs) and even size (for URLs) are updated! Actually they are the same files but Vista (or something in Vista) changes them from time to time!!! When I open a folder with Windows Explorer, sometimes I can see the modified date/time of all EMLs inside update automatically. Sometimes one of them updates after I right-click it and view its property.

I usually backup important URLs and EMLs in My Doc. Correct date/size is very important for me and the sync software to distinguish new and old files.

I never have this problem before when using Win XP, IE6 & Outlook Express with my old labtop. But when I upgrade IE6 to IE7 or 8, the same URL problem comes to Win XP. The date and size of some old URLs are changed without my notice!

DIAGNOSIS: Windows Vista changes every .eml & .url file to current time and date. Is Microsoft intentionally update the date (size) in Vista? Why?

NO SOLUTION up till now: I tried some suggestions found over the internet but none works:-
A. I changed the file type association so that Windows Mail/ Windows Live Mail/ Outlook is no longer the default for .EML files. If I need to open them, I right-click, select "Edit" -- and open in Word. But it does not work! All .EMLs STILL changes to current time and date.

B. I install Thunderbird and associate .EML files to it. All .EMLs STILL changes to current time and date.

Can anyone help please?

Someone in the internet suggested these are bugs (and so, better switch to MacBook). Is there any fix?
