Battery not showning corrent Percent Remaining

I have had this problem lately and have exhausted all options...even the possibility of a bad battery. Here is my situation. Last week my laptop shut off abruptly at approx. 20 percent remaining battery. I recharged it fully and it did it again. I contacted HP regarding possibly a bad battery and the HP battery check says that the batter is good so they will not replace the battery. There is no recall either. Now when I fully the charge the battery...it stays at 100 percent for even like a hour!! The only way I have been able to reset the percent is to turn off the laptop...remove the AC plug...remove the battery and allow to sit for like 10 minutes then restart the laptop. Anyone know if that battery meter isnt correctly reading the battery. Is there a way to recalibrate the meter...I have already recalibrated the battery per HPs suggestions to no avail.

yeah u probably have a bad battery. i once had a hp computaaaa and it had low battery. it would say full 100% but after 5 mins it would run out... my best guess is to get a new battery
