Problem:

So, for the last couple of weeks or so my computer has been either freezing or bluescreening. It can happen while I'm playing a game, just browsing the internet, doing lots of things or hardly doing anything at all and I am having trouble narrowing down what could be the cause.

What I've done so far:

  • I've checked to see if there were any updates for my drivers, everything seemed to be up to date.

  • I don't recall any programs that I installed prior to the problems beginning, no new hardware either.

  • My computer gets scanend for viruses every day with AVG, I've done this in safe mode also.

  • I've checked my hard disk for errors, no errors were found.

  • I've done a memtest. I encountered a problem with that. It never restarts after completing the check. I sat there and watched it do everything up to 100% to monitor if it found anything (didn't seem to find any errors) but when it tries to restart afterwards the screen just goes black and nothing happens and I have to turn it off and start it up again myself so I never get the report from the test.

  • I've restored the computer back to factory settings or whatever, (pressed F3 while the computer was booting) and the bluescreens still occured afteerwards. I don't recall if this happened before programs/sofware was installed again or not

  • I've downloaded some programs to monitor how hot things are running. CPU temp right now is 40 C, core#1 42C core#2 40C my harddrive was sitting around 45 C -50C which I thought was really high so I've taken the side of the computer off and got a fan blowing air in there and it now sits around 30-35C

  • I've done a reliability and performance monitor test and it showed me the following error.
Error
Symptom:

A service is reported as having an unexpected error code
Cause: One or more services has failed. The service did not stop gracefully, suggesting the service may have crashed or one of its components stopped in an unsupported way.
Details: Service exited with code not equal to 0 or 1077
Resolution: Restart the service
Related: Performance Diagnosis <-- takes me to this link but I'm not sure what I can safely do with that.

  • I used the Event Viewer as one of the widows "problem and solutions" recommended to collect more information about my computer. Did a search for bluescreens and got this information hopefully the fault buckets help.

I've zipped up all the .dmp files that were in my minidmp folder and attached them if that helps (there is a lot of them) I tried to work out how to read them myself so I could look on the net for any solutions but I couldn't do it.

Umm... so I hope that's enough information. If you need anything else just let me know how to find it for you and I'll get it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm about ready to give up on this computer and get a new one once I find a new job.

It's been a couple of days and I was wondering if anyone has had a chance to look at my problem or has any ideas what could be wrong. I noticed lots of posts get made so I understand people are probably very busy and might not have had the time to look into my problem.

I've got a couple more dmp files that have happened the last couple of days. Generally my computer either restarts itself on its own, freezes or bluescreens. A couple of the bluescreens dont have the dmp files, not to sure why. I dont get a chance to read the error on it, it just flashes up really quickly then restarts itself even though in my settings I have it set so that it wont automatically restart.

It seems I can't go a day without something going wrong with the computer. Please help.
