Background colour wont change

How can I change the background colour of all programmes including windows explorer in vista WITHOUT going to 'classic view'?

All the threads I have read on here don't give me a way to do it

It's so bad I can't use vista for more than 15 minutes at a time - I'm seriously considering formatting it and putting XP on!

Can someone help please????

Thanks - I tried what it said but it wouldn't work  so I tried 'deskhack' as one of the posters had linked to and now it works fine :)

So thanks again you have saved my eyes! :)

That is very strange though. The procedure I linked is very standard. You must have a little hickup in the system. Run sfc /scannow in elevated command prompt. Maybe it fixes the hickup.
