Vista OS not found

Ok, I know this is going to sound a idiotic but I got a tad frustrated at my computer and as a result I hit it. And now it keeps going to the "OS not found" screen. Is there anything that I can do?

What I really want is the data inside.

If y'all can, tell me if I can save the computer and get it working again

And would you all please tell me how I can save the information on the computer. This is the important question.

Hello Sybawave, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Turn off the power to the computer and unplug it, then double check to see if any of the power or data cables may have been knocked loose or off from the hard drive when you hit it.

There is also this loud clicking. I'm not sure what it is. Would that have to do with the Hard Drive Cable?

And it will turn on without the power cable.

How do I put the cable back?

what power cable are you talking about? the one for the hard drive.. it have only one way of getting connected..

if your hard drive is making loud noise this means that its packing..
Recommendation
<get a image of the hard drive as it can die anytime..>

It depends on what all is wrong with it for how much it will cost, but a computer repair shop should be able to fix it for you.

I would at least check the cables first though to see if it that is it or not and save yourself some money. The clicking noise could be a lose cable in a fan, or a hard drive making it. You will need to find out as described by Dwarf below. If it's the hard drive itself making the clicking noise, then it most likely is dying or dead.

With this problem, you need to narrow down where the clicking noise is coming from. I would disconnect all drives (remove the power cables), power back up and listen. Don't worry at this point about not being able to load your OS. If there is no clicking sound, power back down and connect one of your drives. Again, power back up. If there is still no clicking sound, repeat. If you do get the clicking sound, verify it by disconnecting the last drive you connected. What was it?

How do I get to my Hard Drive? They said that it was most likely dead or about to die and that it might have even broken the mother board. Excuse my ignorance but how bad is that?

And how much does it cost to get the data off of a broken Hard Drive?

Do you have a laptop or desktop computer? If laptop, then you will need to read your manual on how to remove the hard drive. Posting back with what brand and model of computer you have can help us find out how for you as well.

You can try plugging the hard drive into another computer to see if you can access it to make backup copies of anything you need to keep. If not, then you could take it to a computer repair shop or data recovery company to try and extract the data from the dead drive. It will not be cheap though.

If the motherboard is broken, then you would be lucky if the computer is even turning on. If this is the case, then this would be bad and you would have to replace the motherboard to fix it.

Ok... is your computer switching on now?? the hard drive looks like the picture i posted up.. Is it plugged in.. open the cover of your casing see if the hard disk is plugg.. try to switch the computer one..
Listen to where from the noise is coming.. Post that to us.. we need to figure out first whats not working.. retrieving data from your hard drive might be easy.. if your computer is not switching on there can be various reasons..
You can connect your hard drive to another computer as slave (Meaning that it can be run as an external HDD) then accessed and data all the data can be copied off..

please answer to these queries and let us know..
