Dear all vista expert,

no idea since when my Vista home premium 32 bit windows explorer stop working frequently. when ever im doing something else in firefox or microsoft office, once i try to click Start button or i click dekstop icon. the whole windows will just freeze and ask me to restart the program(windows explorer). Im currently using a genuine vista OS, genuine microsoft office. Below are the data i copy from "Problems Report and Solutions". I did try the solution provided by microsoft, but they are just asking me to do windows update. but its seems like not solving my problem by just updating my windows. this problem did not cause me lot of problem. but its just too frustated to see it keep restarting for the whole night.

Thanks for taking a look.

hello kennethklkk,
Welcome to vista forums!!!

It says that it has something to do with third party add ons. Use your Antivirus anti malware and anti spyware (if you need any FREE amazing programs let me/us know.) and do a scan to make sure your not infected. After you do this, uninstall any firefox add ons, then firefox itself.

Restart the computer.

You should be all set...

Let us know,
Ben

What is the ntdll.dll file?

CTR+ALT+DEL and click task manager, go to processes, and let us know:
1. how many explorer.exe processes you have running
2. What is the CPU it is using
3. The amount of memory it is using
4. Any unusual processes running.

Also, have you scanned with malware bytes? Im sure you have a good program but this is one of the best for diagnosing. It helps. Please scan with this and let me know...

Thanks,
Ben

hello kenethklkk, i too suffered this problem, it is caused by an add on. looking at your fault module name, ntdll.dll, was this an add on or a download. if it was delete it by click tools, click manage add ons, under show, click all add ons, and then click on add on you wish to disable, then click disable. hope this helps.

anthonylfc,
If you look at the link i posted below, ntdll.dll is not an add on itself. It is a windows module. It fails because of a bad add on or malware.

Look at the link i posted below.

Dear BEN,
thanks for your kindly help and explanation about the ntdll.dll files.
currently im using "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" and "SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition" to do scanning everyday. but seems like there is few adware i cant clean it completely. no matter how many times i scan & delete. its still will be there after a while i scan again.
Adware.Tracking Cookie

and i follow your steps. after scanning. uninstall firefox and install again. the extenxions (add on) i have in my firefox now is McAfee site advisor, Microsoft .NET framework, RealPlayer browser record, and skype extension for firefox.

although the "windows explorer stopped working" issue is not totally solve. but today the problem only occur once. as what i read in the link you provided about ntdll.dll, do you think is the adware which affected the ntdll.dll and cause crash or not responding problem for windows?

kennethklkk,
It very well could be that these files are affecting your .dll file.
First off, make sure any important files that you need are backed up to a secure location such as a flash drive or CD/DVD. This way if anything goes wrong, you wont lose out to bad.

Now download a program called Ccleaner. Go to the optitons panel on the side, then click on advanced. Now click on the "Only delete files older then 24 hrs."

Then run a scan.

Let me know if this takes care of the problem.

Ben

Hey brandon,
Try doing the same thing as what I posted below. Also, use the registry cleaner and run and fix probloems there could be a registry error.

Let us know,
Ben

I too encounter this problem. I have been using malwarebytes and this problem STILL occours with me. Malwarebytes has not yet picked it up.
