    Login "Password Incorrect"

I am recently getting a "Incorrect Password" message when trying to login. I am administrator with a password. My husband (standard user with password) is having the same problem. In addition, a box with "Ease of Access" options pops up while I am in the middle of typing my password. This problem does not happen with my husband. The only way we can log in is to do so as our daughter first (She has no password), then "switch user." At this point, it will finally let us log in. Thanks for any ideas.

    Re: Login "Password Incorrect"

Hello Mharse, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Do you have the computer set to log on automatically to a user account. If so, then check to make sure that the password is correct by re-entering it.

If not, then you might see if changing the password for the account after you are able to log on to it may allow you to log on to normally again.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Thanks for writing. It is not set to log on automatically. I tried resetting the password, but it still happens.

Is the keyboard layout correct? For example, when you set up your PC, you used the En-US layout and subsequently changed it to the En-UK one. If that is the case, some of the key locations change.

    Mharse,
When you finally are able to log onto your profile, do a malware (virus is the more common term) scan with MalwareBytes. It is an extremly useful scanner. It sounds like you could be infected. There are always ways around infections and the switch user feature is the way you can get around it.

Yes, there may be no other warning signs that you are infected, but to me it sounds like you are....

    Let us know,
    Ben

Sorry, I don't understand the keyboard post. I have MalwareBytes and scan on a regular basis. I just did one now and it found nothing. Any other ideas?

    Hi Mharse,

This is what I am referring to. Notice how the position of some characters are different according to the locale.

No, my keyboard did not get switched to the UK version of English. Thanks for the idea, though.
