I am using Vista Business 32-bit and am running a 16-bit application on it. I keep getting an error as soon as I run the 16-bit app that says:
error: invalid driver name or insufficient resources: winspool

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello erdrick6,

Also can you fill in your full system specs, thanks.

The program is a Borland DBASE medical billing software. We have 4 Vista PC's in the office and have seen the error on 2 of them. We also have now seen it on two Windows 7 PC's outside of the office AFTER they were updated from Vista.

I'll attach the dxdiag log file for the specs.

We know that being a DBASE program it is very sensitive to printers when initially loading the program, especially the default printer. We have seen issues with certain printers being default that causes problems opening the program, or printers with names longer than 32 characters. We have tried removing all printers and installing a basic driver (Generic / Text Only) on LPT1 but that doesn't change anything. We've tried also running winspool fix applications to no avail.

Yeah it's currently running in Windows 95 mode. Also system restores were done to go way back before the error occurred and that didn't correct it. Also the program worked fine for a few days before the error and there were Windows updates installed in that time period which we have since uninstalled.

The only thing i can suggest, is to re-install, not an ideal solution, but may, just may, fix it.
