Vist 32 bit to Vista 64 bit

I have a desktop PC (HP a6010n) running Vista Home Premium 32 bit with 3GB RAM. I increased it to 4GB RAM but haven't noticed any performance improvement. I have Vista Home Basic 64 bit and my computer is 64 bit ready, will there be any benefit if I install it? If I do install it, are there any precautionary steps I should take before I do it?
Thanks :D

Hello Johnstas, and welcome to Vista Forums.

The main difference is that you will be able to use all 4GB of your RAM, but you can read more detailed differences between 32-bit and 64-bit in the articles below though.

I believe that the best thing to do before installing the 64-bit Vista is to have all of the 64-bit drivers installation files for all of your devices downloaded and backed up somewhere to make installing them easier after you finish installing Vista. I have had a few times that I could not get on the internet until I installted the network driver. It would had been a bit hard to do without it already downloaded before hand.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
