ntuser file deleted

hi this is really urgent...i deleted my ntuser registry files by mistake:confused: and now my profile does not load..a temporary file is loaded saying that changes made to this will not be saved:sick:..please help..
i have tried the following and they did not work::mad:
system restore(wid vista repair cd)
changed state value in HK Local registry....
tried making a new account and tht too didnt load


i am sure there is a solution to this rather than windows reinstall...that is not an option for me because i have linux also on my lappy and reinstalling windows will remove tht too which i cant afford to do:(

please help ppl..

If you've deleted registry files there are limited choices to repair it.
As you've found out, a backup is essential in case these things happen.

If you can't use System Restore and there are not backup copies of the registry to work with - then you're left with trying a repair install of Vista. http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html

FWIW - properly reinstalling Vista will not delete your Linux. Also, you can get Linux distro's for free - so cost isn't a factor. You can use Live Linux distro's to backup your data. The biggest problem would be reinstalling things so that the Linux boot manager is working properly - and that's easily fixed by the Linux guru's.
