Problems with fonts on my Vista Home Premium 32 bit

I really appreciate any help with my problem. Two days ago I experienced a new problem after getting off line and preparing to shut down for the night. I noticed that the font on my desktop as I prepared to shut down was very large to the point where all the icons would not fit on the desktop. When I got onto the web to check it was the same way. I tried right clicking on the desktop and the fonts were actually set at the smallest setting. I tried adjusting the DPI scaling but it was already set at default/smallest setting (96 DPI). Well, after playing with it for a while I went away and came back just before I hit the sack (it was pretty late) and somehow managed to fix it. I don't rememeber what I did but figured I wouldn't need to remember. Well I guess I should have written it down because last night as I went to shut down it did the same thing. I checked the settings and they were all set for the smallest font but I could not find the fix again. I turned it off hoping it this morning that the computer fairies might have fixed it but not so. I am stuck with extra large everything all over. This includes e-mail which is extra big even when I use Ariel Regular 10. I haven't tried printing but it is just that everything is bigger, not just font. Thanks.

dont bite my head for this but since you didnt mention it along with the other stuff that you tried .......
how about your screen resolution - have you tried playing with the settings OR ....
maybe updating your display drivers.

xdash: How could I bite your head off? Many thanks for the help. Adjusting the screen resolution did the trick right off the bat. I am fairly green with computers but learning all the time. It's just crazy logic for me to grasp that something can go wrong with the settings like that with no apparant cause. My mind wants to know how happened but I guess knowning the fix will have to be enough. Happy Holidays.
