Hi Folks,
My Vista 64 is very recently installed, but I'm constantly running into a rather senseless headache. No matter what I do, or how many times I do it, Vista seems intent on deciding for me how icons should be shown in my folders.
Mostly, I use the List option, which dates back countless years to the days of Windows 3.11--but is to this day the most effective and space economic icon View option. I've tried setting a folder the way I like it and then using the View tab in Folder Options to set all folders to that style. In fact, I've done this maybe over 100 times in my desperate desire to get things to look and feel the way I want them to look and feel. I don't want to spend all my time constantly fussing with View and related settings in Vista--I just want to boot up and go to work.
Does anyone know a secret way to get Vista to remember View settings between sessions (power cycles)? I seem to recall running into this problem a long time ago when I upgraded to Vista 32 on another computer. There was some registry edit that I was able to make that stopped this queer behavior and got things to work predictably again. But I can no longer remember the details of that ordeal (Windows products are so fraught with senseless problems that it's easy to forget the details of any one particular issue).
Any help would be vastly appreciated.
