OS: Vista Home Premium 64bit

Hi guys about 4 weeks ago i reinstalled windows due to my vista being corrupt, i formatted the hardrive and everything seemed fine. When i woke up this morning and turned my pc on it said that windows failed to log me on because it couldnt access the event log.Now i looked in the event viewer and clicked on the error and it said this:

The LoadUserProfile call failed with the following error:
An I/O operation initiated by the registry failed unrecoverably. The registry could not read in, or write out, or flush, one of the files that contain the system's image of the registry.

Now when i clicked the look online help button at bottom of page i did all that it said to do and restarted my pc and same problem persists. i have run a virus scan 2 times today and i have run a spybot scan today and there is nothing there.

I really would like some help in resolving this issue ASAP as my computer will corrupt again if its not sorted soon.

Below is a image of my event viewer screen so you guys can see.

Hello Krisda, and welcome to Vista Forums.

If one is available, you might see if doing a system restore at boot using a restore point dated before this happened may be able to fix it for you. If not, then you may need to do anothe clean install of Vista.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Was there anything that you installed, ran (ex: registry cleaner), or changed right before this happened?

Hi all this is copied straight from microsoft website i follow its instructions but it still doesnt resolve the problem. Is this a problem with vista sp2 or just a problem with that service?

Event ID 7005 — Basic Service Control Manager Operations
Updated: December 11, 2007
Applies To: Windows Server 2008
cc756350.red%28en-us,WS.10%29.jpg
The basic operations that Service Control Manager (SCM) performs include managing the services and driver services that allow the operating system to start successfully, and reporting when one of these services or driver services fail during system startup. These operations are not associated with any particular service.
Event Details

Product: Windows Operating System ID: 7005 Source: Service Control Manager Version: 6.0 Symbolic Name: EVENT_CALL_TO_FUNCTION_FAILED Message: The %1 call failed with the following error:
%2 Resolve

Review the event log messages

To resolve this issue, review the Event logs and note if any other events have been logged by the Service Control Manager (SCM) Eventlog Provider. The event log message and related events logged by the SCM should help you to further troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Some examples are provided below.
To perform this procedure, you must have membership in Administrators, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.

  1. If event ID 7011 is also logged for a service, then extending the service timeout period to resolve event ID 7011 would also resolve this error.
  2. If event ID 7034 is also logged for a service, then restoring the service default settings to resolve event ID 7034 would also resolve this error.
If the issue remains unresolved, contact Microsoft support and provide the error information. For information about how to contact Microsoft support, see Support Options from Microsoft Services (Microsoft Services Home).
To review the events logged by the SCM:

  1. Open Event Viewer by clicking the Start button, Control Panel, and Administration Tools, then double-clicking Event Viewer. Note: For Windows Vista, use the Classic View display option in Control Panel to see the Administration Tools.
  2. Click Event Viewer (Local), then Windows Logs and System.
  3. In the details pane, click on the Source column to view the events sorted by the entity that logged that event. For events logged by the SCM, the source is the Service Control Manager Eventlog Provider.
Verify

To perform this procedure, you must have membership in Administrators, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.
To verify that the Service Control Manager (SCM) is successfully sending commands to services:

  1. Open the Services snap-in by clicking the Start button, Control Panel, and Administrative Tools, then double-clicking Services. Note: For Windows Vista, use the Classic View display option in Control Panel to see the Administration Tools.
  2. Right-click on a stopped service that is not a system service and select Start. If the SCM was successful in starting the service, the Status field for that service will display Started.
To verify that the Service Control Manager is logging service events correctly:

  4. Review the events and confirm that event ID 7036 was logged for the action taken by the SCM in step 1 of the To verify that the Service Control Manager is successsfully sending commands to services procedure above.

i think he means he updated the power supply (got a new one ;))

i reckon if it still has the same problem after 5 custom installs, there might be corrupt or missing files on the recovery/vista dvd. if you can get a blank dvd and and burn an iso image onto the dvd

Hi all thanks for all of the help i appreciate it but i was being such an idiot i thought every driver was updated on my pc but it seems that my graphics card driver had installed a newer version but didnt uninstall an older version so there was a conflict there and this was causing my pc alot of problems.

So.... I uninstalled everything from my pc that had anything to do with Nvidia stuck in my disk that came with graphics card and installed all of those drivers. Then went to nvidia website and updated manually to the newest drivers.

All is well now pc is not making a chugga noise when it is running anymore and havent had that error for quite a while now.

Will speak to you all soon

Peace Out
