extremely high pages in/sec

I have had a problem where my laptop lags anytime that I do anything even slightly heavy for it (photoshop cs4, HD videos, etc). I understand that pages in/sec refers to some kind of function dealing with when RAM gets low, but not much beyond that. I have 3GB of RAM on the computer and I've never seen it using above 1.5GB.

I did all the usual stuff to try to fix it (drivers up to date, spyware/virus scan, downing the OS display settings, disabling some startup programs, etc) and finally asked someone in computer sciences if he had any ideas and he told me to take a system performance test and send him the report. he tells me that my pages input/sec is extremely high (a healthy computer should have <10 pages in per second, and mine had 968 and 1333 in two tests), and 0 pages out/sec.

I need to use photoshop to complete my work, but it just lags too much tfor me to work with anymore. anybody have an idea on what may be causing this?

Look at the Reliability and Performance monitor and post a snip of the part where the arrow is. If this hard fault number is high, you are indeed suffering from page thrashing.
Btw: all your RAM is being used - and if it's only for caching.
