I have Vista home basic (hp laptop) it is almost a year old. When I log off, my computer goes into an unexpected shut down to protect the hard drive. If i go to the start menu and type in prefetch to delete files they come back again after they were deleted. Does anyboby know what I can do besides reformating HD?:sarc:

Hello alapina1,

Welcome to vista Forums!!!!!!

Sounds like a perfect senario for you to have an infection. You might want to run a scan with MalwareBytes and let us know if anything comes up.

Good luck and let us know,
Ben
