Trouble with Browseui.dll.

I was attempting to modify my vista theme when an error informed me of a missing browseui.dll.

I've tried downloading another browseui.dll and dragging it into the c:\windows\system32 folder, but the lack of a browseui.dll prevents me from using my administrator privileges to replace it. If that makes sense.

I'm running Vista Home Premium x64 I think. Not overly sure on this as the lack of a browseui.dll prevents me from looking.

I no longer have the vista os cd.

To sum it up, I need to bypass the administrator popup to put a new browseui.dll file into my system32 folder.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the response.

This seems like it would fix the problem, but I need to run an elevated command prompt to execute sfc /scannow. When I right click on the command prompt located in C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe and run it as an administrator, I can't grant it access because my browseui.dll file isn't present.

If someone could tell me how to bypass the administrator popup...that would be fantastic.

Can you manually take ownership of your files?

Its getting old, been upgrading it over the past few years, mainly the ram and the gpu's. Will hold out till some next year before I build another one.
Try it in safe mode. It should work there without the prompt window
