My pc was working fine after the updates that i did the otherday and it got powered off manually from my friend today and I went to turn it on today and it comes to the loading bar and doesnt show the vista icon its a black page with the green bars loading with microsoft corp underneath them. I left it there for hours and it wont go past that. I cant even put it in safe mode because it goes to load for it and says please wait but doesnt change.

I would like to get htis figured out before the holidays if possible any help would be great.

Try downloading the 7 repair disc.

Download Windows 7 System Recovery Discs — The NeoSmart Files

Boot it and when you get to the screen saying "Install Now" - don't click that - click underneath where it says "Repair My Computer"

It will scan for installations - then click Next , select System Restore.

Select a restore point before the update.

Hope it helps.

You are using a machine now to post here- use that same machine to download the .iso of the 7 repair cd.

Burn the .iso to cd-r ( do not format the cd) you can use this :

View attachment 17746

Start the pc you can't get into.

During POST ( white writng on black screen before windows loads )

You will see something like :

press F11 for boot menu
press F2 for setup

Your F numbers may be different - it may be del , or some other key for your machine.

Press whatever key it tells you for boot menu - a menu will pop up.

Arrow down to cdrom drive , put the cd in - press enter.

It will ask again - press any key to boot from cdrom drive - press enter again.

You then see Windows loading files - select language and keyboard - Next.

On the Install Now screen , click Repair My Computer ( at the bottom of the screen).

That is called "booting" the cd. You do not go into windows to do it.

Hope it helps.

NB - you might find that if you start the pc with the cd in - it will boot up anyway - might not need to select a menu. (Depends how the manufacturer has set up the device boot order ).

Exactly the same - the 7 repair cd works brilliantly on Vista.
