MFC application is killed by Vista

I have an application called Mp3 Tag Tools v1.2 which runs a 2 minute process of parsing mp3s. When I switch away from this application and then back Vista decides that the application has stopped responding and it kills it. The message is:
MFC application has stopped working

I understand that the application is not properly dealing with its message loop, but I would like to stop Vista from killing the application. This is very detrimental for any old application with these sorts of issues. The application I'm using works great otherwise. If I don't switch focus it opens without a problem and continues working like needed.

Perhaps I need to set compatibility mode...?

Thanx,
PS, Did anyone get a chance to look at my Bluetooth question?
