Vista Power Option Switches Randomly

I have a HP 6735s laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

I generally have either the 'HP Optimized' or a 'Custom Plan' selected as my power option. However, for reasons unknown, the power option on the laptop changes to 'High Performance' randomly.

Some points to note:
- This happens if laptop is plugged in or on battery
- This happens if laptop is on stable or unstable surface
- This happens if i'm watching a film or if i'm running nothing at all
- I've ensured my drivers are up-to-date
- This happens across more than one user profile
- This also happens if just starting up the laptop or if it's been on for a while

...and the odd point:
- This occurs in what appears to be a sequence, i.e. the laptop will be on my chosen plan for a period of time then it will change to High Performance, after say 10 seconds it switches back to my chosen plan for 5 seconds then again back to high performance. This repeats three times but will then not happen again for 20-30 minutes where the same sequence repeats.

I've read that it may be an issue with internal wires getting caught up, however if this was the case, i wouldn't have thought the sequence would occur as described above.

If anyone knows why this is happening PLEASE let me know as it's driving me mad!

Many thanks in advance,
Matt

Hello Mattias,

Not sure why this would be happening, it should work for you to use the "High Performance" power plan and just adjust it's settings to what you need instead.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
