When upgrading from Win XP to Vista using the DVD Windows Genuine Advantage Kit for Windows Vista 32 Bits after passing OK my system different stages: Searching for installation updates, entering product Key, Accepting contract, Checking compatibility, Copying Windows files, Gathering Files, at 20% of Expanding Files I receive the error :" Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration. Installation cannot proceed".

McAfee Security and WebRoot Spy Sweeper from MSN are disabled during installation.

No external devices are connected during Installation

Using REGEDIt to enter in upper filters "PartMgr" as suggested in Internet did nothing.

I don't want a "clean installation" loosing files.

Many peple in Internet confront this same problem.

There is somebody in this forum that confronted this situation and solve it? Please tell me how. Your help will be very much appreciated.

You are better off with the custom install. You will have nothing but issues doing the upgrade, especially with anti viruses on your system.

Thank you very much for your support, Blackawk7188. Specially I appreciate your quote "Life is all about how you handle plan B..." You are absolutly right, sir. To be set in upgrading from XP to Vista eagerly, will be to die in the attempt. The advice you give me has been very useful.
