How to search for a phrase?

How does one narrow down searches in the forums?

There seems to be no way of finding a specific phrase. I have tried single quotes, double quotes, '+' signs, all to no avail.

Any info would be appreciated.

Yes, as Mitchell suggested, Advanced Search is definitely the way to search a phrase. And, put the search terms in quotes so that all of the words will be searched together.

Unfortunately that does not work. It does return items containing the phrase but also returns items containing any of the words in the phrase.

I have however found that using Google with the "site:" option works:-

"search for a phrase" site:vistax64.com

It works perfectly for me. . . Are you in Advanced Search, and did you put your phrase in quotes?

Yes, I am in advanced search, and yes I have put the phrase in quotes (tried both single and double quotes - same result).

It does find a post with the phrase, but also returns posts containing all of the words regardless of position which defeats the object of limiting the search.

Screen shots attached.

As I said, Google with the site option works just fine, so this is not train smash.
