    Backup hard drive

I bought a Seagate portable HB. I tried to backup my C drive to the Seagate (F drive). I attempted to back it up by using "backup your computer" mode in my control panel. I designated F drive as my backup target. After completion of the backup process, I discovered that my C drive was backed up to my D drive and not F drive. How do I backup my C drive to my Seagate (F drive)? Also, how can I undo the backup to my D drive?

    Re: Backup hard drive

Hello Gymrat, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Not sure, if you selected the F drive as the destination, it should have saved the backup to it. You might take a look at the tutorial below to see if it there may have been anything that you missed.

    Backup Complete Computer

You can look at the NOTE box at the top of the tutorial above to see what folder to delete to removed the backup on the D: drive though.

    Hope this helps some,
    Shawn

Thanks for your help. I did go back and tried to backup again to my portable HD...but I had the same results. All throughout the back process it says data is going to the F drive, but when backup is complete my F drive is empty.

    Strange,

You might see if changing the drive letter for the F: drive to a different one may toggle to allow you to select it and actually save the backup to it.
