Noise when waking from sleep mode

I am running Vista Home Premium 64 bit on an HP Pavilion desktop computer.
When not working on the computer, I put it in sleep mode.
To waken it, I move the mouse. This works, but for the first few seconds of the awakening the computer makes a high-pitched, fast reverberating sound.
This sound comes from the speakers, which determine the loudness of the sound.
The same sound occurs if I awaken the computer by pressing a key on the keyboard. This sound did not occur until after the first 12 months of owning the computer, which came with Vista. Does anyone know of this problem and how to eliminate it?

Sound, must be related to the sound card. Go to device manager (type name in search) and then check the drivers for the sound card) Most current? Working properly? Go to website check for updates of drivers and firmware. Reset sound card.
