Hi..I have been trying to burn my pics to Dvd+R's for my MIL to have on her computer she has XP. Did the burn using windows and the mastered option but nothing shows up when she puts the disc on her computer or either of our DVD players..
my computer:
Emachine model w3609
Processor Intel (R)Celeron (R)D CPU 3.33GHZ
DVD: TSSTcorp CD/DVDWTS - H652D ATA Device
Ram: 1.50GB32 bit operating system
Windows Vista Home Basic service pack 1
am I doing something wrong or will nothing burned on this machine show up on any other computer? very frustrated.. and lots of discs later..lol
Hope I'm posting correctly as well.. first time..apologies if not..
thanks,
Kathy

hello
if you put a blank dvd in your computer, wait about 10 seconds..

start > click on "computer" you should see the dvd in the dvd drive....just drag and drop the pictures you want on the disc...(no burning)

they will not play on a standalone dvd player. but she will be able to view and or import them to her machine!!

hope this helps

k thank you.. will give this a try.. so is it better to save all my pics like this instead of burning them? to make sure I can see them on any computer? let you know how it goes...

And no need to take expensive DVD-R's (unless you plan to move about 5000 pics). Simple CDs will do. I also suggest to use this function to move them, rather than drag and drop as kenny suggests (although that does work).
But what you can also do is to put them into a Zip folder and upload that to e.g. Skydrive. Then you give your MIL the Skydrive URL from where she can download them.

Thanks.. will check it out but for her it's not an option.. she is on dial-up and there are alot of pics.. 2 dvd's full..lol

if you have that many, you can right click the folder & choose "send to" point the folder to the cd/dvd drive..

Are you sure it is 2 DVDs full. That would be close to 10 Gigabytes, or 5.000 to 20.000 pictures (depending on the resolution). Put them all into one folder and check the filesize. If it is in the megabyte range, even with Dial-up, the downloading should not be too bad. At 56KB/sec, even a 50 Megabyte file should download in about 15 minutes. That is still a lot faster than the US Postal service - LOL.

Thanks.. put them on the dvd and took them over.. didn't work either.. so looked at their computer... no dvd/cd rom...she didn't know to look on the specs for what type of hardware was installed thot it said dvd/cd so she was good..she is a happy camper now..lol
but I had burnt my photos and videos and thot I'd check before I took them all off the computer and there is no sound with the videos.. I just used burn with windows and the master file option to format the dvd.. how do I get the sound on them? I would have thought that this would be something it can do without any issues playing on the same computer.. sigh...
Any help would be appreciated.. feel like this is all I have been doing lately..
thanks,
Kathy

For videos I suggest DVD Flick. Then you can play them on a computer and on a DVD player. Works well.

What is the filetype of the videos - maybe H261 ?? Here are all the types it supports DVD Flick If in doubt, just try it. Suggest you read their 4 page instructions first. What can you loose - just another coaster.
