start > control panel > auto play > put a check in the box "use autoplay for all media and devices"

Very easy to fix. Do the following:
In Vista....
1. Click the "Start" orb
2. In the searchbox, type "AutoPlay"
3. Now click "Autoplay"
4. You can now change your settings to do what you like with autoplay.
