Hi,

I am using Vista X64 with service pack 1.

I bought my pc Acer Aspire M5800 third quarter of 2009 and has been using my pc
without any problem.

I am using Trend Micro Internet Security Pro Anti-virus on my PC.

Since 2 days ago all my X64 compliant softwares which I had to buy new since migrating to Vista began to stop responding.

Today my windows explorer.exe has stopped responding and I am unable to open my files.

When I check problem dialogue, it states:-

Description:

A problem caused this program to stopped interacting with explorer.exe

Problem signature:

Problem event name: AppHangB1
Application Name: Explorer.exe
Hang signature: 9fb8
Hang type: 1

What could be causing this problem and how can it be overcome?

Any help shall be highly appreciated.

If you can use System Restore, if not

Try to get into safe mode. If you can try a system restore. That should work.

For safe mode contimually hit F8 as you boot up.

The problem with your suggestion is that without explorer.exe functioning the files cant be found and everything hang up!

Hi ,

Problem solved.

I cleaned my registry and did a complete system scan.

After that I switched my computer overnight.

The next day I restarted my computer and everything was back to normal.

Weird. I still dont know what triggered the problem.

Thanks Richard for your effort.
