Good morning: I am new to this site, hope I am using the right forum. When I switch users on my laptop all my icons scatter all over my desk top. I re-arrange them but they will not stay put.

Right click on the desktop go to vies
and uncheck auto arrange.

I would check (not uncheck) "Auto arrange icons." Plus, you can also check "Align icons to grid," and they'll stay put.

uncheck auto arrange so you can put them where you want
check align to grid to keep them in nice rows and make sure both users have the same resolution set for their desktops

Richardm, whether you should check or uncheck is not really the most important isssue. Follow the advice given, when you reach the point that you have to either check or uncheck, just think about it. I am sure that you will be able to decide on the right course of action. I, however, maintaian that it should be unchecked.
