Just had another thought, so I am back. Try a defrag, you may be surprised by the results.

ohh sorry guys.. I couldn't hold my laugh on that one.. try to add some files perhaps the space will grow..

ok.. try a disk defrag as proposed by WHS.. its might also be that your hard drive is having issues.. if you dont see any good results after the disk defrag.. try a hard ware check to see if the hard drive is running fine.. u can check that on event logs as well..

Ok thanks I'll try that even putting the files back. Not;)

I don't want to do that I deleted over 50 gigs of files and just wonderd why it showed I have less space then when I had the files on the drive.I shouldn't have to do anything with shadowcopy because that space was already allocated for system restore points I would think.:sarc:

I doubt that you deleted 50 gigs of files. That would be an awful lot of files. But you never answered the shadowstorage question. There are 3 numbers: Allocated, Used, Maximum. Why don't you post those.

Oh sorry I already fixed it it was shadow copy props go to brummyfan for the link now I'm showing 77 gigs free witch is were it should be.I don't know for sure but I think by what I read vista allocated the extre space for restore points so it wasn't showing free.I think thats close to what happend. So thanks for all the replies real happy I could fix this in a reasonable time frame.:D

I am glad you are all sorted out. However, this could happen again if you do not control that shadowstorage. If the allocation is too big, the system will grab it over time. You have to set that to a reasonable size - e.g. 5GBs.
