Vista Pro
I'm just about to do a fresh install windows.... Sat at start of install with drives formated
so I'm considering going for a full install using my upgrade disc... Yes no previous os installed..... So I skip the serial key and continue to install now what I need to know is do I just place my key and windows will be activated or do I need to use registry hacks and stuff or will I just get away with putting my upgrade key in??

I'm justtrying to avoid the ling route of install xp then install vista upgrade

yes both OS genuine with genuine keys

fast honest and informal advice needed not this breaks t&c's thanx

You can do a clean install with the upgrade DVD. The tutorial will show you how to upgrade without having the underlying OS installed. There are no hacks necessary, but you must run it through twice. See the above tutorial.

Do not put key, unckeck box for automatic activation.

You have 30 days to actually give your number

Use it, enjoy, it, install your programs. When satisfied activate and make an image of the HD. You are all set now

Hope I have helped
Post back with any other questions.

Thanx richc46..... Still as long winded as an XP to vista install but this somehow feels a cleaner install than the xp to vista road

I have supplied the tutorial, if you have the DVD that is all you need.

When you download Paragon, it is quiet easy. If you have any problems post and I will help you.

The image can be made using the mentioned paragon software, I will get you the link.

http://www.paragon-software.com/home/db-express/

The image is not a requirement, it is for your protection. If you update once a month you will never have to worry about HD failure, etc.

Thanx m8

I'll look at that paragon thing later

I just found one of brinks tutorials for backing up which I can use since I use ultimate
I'm just wanting to make a slip streamed image so next time I do a fresh install I don't have to do all the driver and windows update game again so one backup after a fresh install, drivers and updates will be enough

thanx for your time and help.... You gave what I asked for so Enjoy your rep....

It sounds like you are pretty well set. Just take your time, and come back with any

questions that you may have.

I did not install Vista, but I installed Windows 7, procedure is just a little different but its bascially the same thing; it really is easy.

Ill tell you how to really feel confident, do what I did; watch it on YouTube.

Take care.

Baaaah well it seems my problem wasn't a currupt vista like I thought
so let's breifly try explain what's happening....
I can't post a picture yet unless I pull out my old p4
so I started experiancing glitchy graphics that kinda looked like someone had splashed paint all over my screen... I tried driver updates n the usual but no difference
so as above I've tried a fresh install but still seems that it makes no difference
so when I get this graphics glitch it's not just the graphics that go wrong since it seems to also hang till I manually reboot but with the same only to happen again
now it seems only to happen with anything graphical ie windows or the bios splash screen, it does not seem to glitch out on bios boot text or even threw the windows install screens
I'm stuck to as what the cause is unless it's my graphics card failing
I don't have a spare rite now but this can be sorted on Monday but I'd rather try avoid buying one to only find out it's not my g card
I'm really stuck as to the cause and hope someone can help asap

Edit added pic
2nd Edit: more pics added
Note in the pics from splash to windows that i only have the wifi driver installed, external drive iphone for pic reasons and usb mouse + keyboard... nothing else is connected or installed
