Solved File Management Questions

Couple of questions here that I have always wondered about:
1) I have two hard drives in my laptop - I have my default "Documents" folder on my C: drive and then I have created another on my D: drive -- I am trying to keep my C: drive less loaded since it handles the OS and wanted to use the D: for storage. Is there anyway that I can change my default documents folder to be the one on the D: drive without having to switch to it everytime?

Which brings me to question 2:
2) Again - trying to save more of my stuff on D: drive. When I browse my hard drive it shows on the left hand side "Favorite Links" which lists: Documents, Pictures, Music, REcently Changed, etc.....is there anyway I can edit this to add in my frequently used folders so I am not always having to go to Computer: D drive: Documents or whatever?? (**See Attached)

Thanks ahead of time!!

Ill set it up as solved. In the future you can just click on the far right icon
(upper right)

Then type solved as reason to report post. When solved they are not deleted a check mark is put next to them. In that way others can benefit from the answers, too. Good luck

Glad that you found the answer.

MS is going to generate a Documents folder in your user profile folder regardless of where you choose to store your files.

Affiliated MS programs generally open the last folder you saved to, so if you saved to an off-profile drive, it opens that off-profile folder first. The same thing happens when you open files; affiliated MS programs open the last folder you opened a file from using that program. Affiliated programs include most and maybe all the big licensed makers like Adobe and Oracle and stuff.

So, the short answer is, cut your personal folders and videos and music, move them to D:, and delete the originals.

Next, go to your personal folder. See the Documents folder? Right-click on it. You'll see an extra tab, the "Location" tab! Open it.

Copy your D: address from the explorer window of your new Documents home and paste it into the text box. Bam! Windows now recognizes the D: drive address for all your personal documents.

You can do this with your "Favorites" folder, your "Music" folder: any of the grey folders, you can change this way.
