Vista will NOT start after a reboot...

Hello to anyone that is out there and can help this hopeless and pathetic computer nutcase who has gone completely bonkers and cannot stop crying

My computer did an update yesterday and proceeded to restart itself... when I returned, the blue system repair screen was up and I then clinked on the button to repair whatever was wrong... BUT nothing happened... it keeps attempting to reboot, but it always gets stuck on that screen and states that it cannot repair the system...

I've tried hitting F8 a bunch of times and nothing happens, it just continues onto the blue system repair screen, goes thru the process and then states that it cannot repair the system...

I've read thru several forums and I'm not catching on... I do not understand what to do... AND, unfortunately, I do NOT have a back up disc... Am I out of luck?

I have an Acer Aspire which is about a year and a half old and has been actually giving me a lot of problems lately with low disc space and slow processes... BUT, this takes the cake...

I'm a medical student and needless to say, I have tons and tons of stuff on my hard drive that I absolutely MUST RETRIEVE...

I'm calling to all you computer genius' out there to please, please, please help me...

Thank you very much for any assistance you can offer... Christine

Had this problem sevral times, hold down the power button for 30 seconds, if that does not work,

unplug the computer and remove the battery. Let it sit for 30 minutes and try again.

No matter what method is tried there can be no guarantee about the condition of your files when things are returned to normal.
