User account & signin name different?

I am giving my computer to a friend and am trying to clean it up for her. I added she and her husband as administrators and then deleted my account. But when I restart the computer I get a notice that the name is not the correct one. I change the user, but I end up having to click on my name which is still there, and entering my password. Then I see two of each of our icons. I can then click on another person.

I went into the system and checked and it shows only the other two people as administrators and does not show my name.

I am hoping someone will give me some advise to get rid of my name in the sign on.

Hi jshu43 and welcome to Vista Forums

Even though you are giving your computer to a friend it doesn't mean to say that you have to be complacent about your personal data. My advice would be to clean reinstall the OS.

Thanks for the reply Dwarf. I have gone through and deleted everything, deleted the trash bin as well. These friends are like family and there is nothing on my computer that I care if someone sees anyway. They are less computer literate than I am, which is saying something! I don't want to do a clean reinstall because I left a couple of programs on there for them that I could not reinstall.

If I could just fix this tiny glitch, then the computer would be perfect for them.

Go to search, type cmd, do not hit enter. Right click on cmd and then run as administrator.

In the cmd prompt type sfc /scannow. If small problems are found, run it several times.

If this does not work, post and I will tell you how to do a repair install, Hopefully that will not be necessary.

Good luck
Richard

Richard, I ran the sfc /scannow and it said there were no problems detected. So, that means I need to do a repair install?

Thanks for your help,
Judy

If my previous suggestion does not work a system restore may do the trick.

We can do the system restore prior to making the new account, and then I will guide you step by step on the correct procedure.
