Vista take hours to boot

I looked at the logs and all I could find was something about tm... Trend Micro?. I turned the laptop on last night and some 12 hours later all that is happening is those little green bars are going back and forth. I hit the Caps Lock key and nothing happened. I ran the Trend Micro virus check (before I rebooted) and it didn't find any viruses. The last change was made a couple of months ago, we install an HP Printer. Where is a good place to start? I am troubleshooting the laptop for a friend. My Vista works fine. TIA -JJ
