Windows Vista Installer won't work. I keep getting an error message...1719 Windows Installer not working. I need to install Maxtor to back-up files and I can't install the program.

I think that the response given by spirit X, may help
error 1719 the windows installer service could not be accessed when uninstalling a program.
If you cannot find a solution using the above link and the installer worked, recently, you may consider using System Restore.
