Help needed in deleting backup files

I recently backed up my files to the Recovery D drive (Back up and Restore center). It failed as I did not have enough memory to complete the op. I've since uninstalled programs that I do not normall use, but still only have 20MB free out of the 10GB drive. I'm trying to go into the user files to delete folders which contain pictures that I want to delete to free up room. BUt when I click on the folder and try to delete it, I get an error message indicating that I do not have enough memory to complete the operation. So how do I delete these folders (that contain a ton of pics)?? Any help would be appreciated!

As suggested by richc46 I tried to delete one pic at a time; however I am still receiving an error message indicating that there is not enough disk space to perform this operation. :( Any other ideas?

I actually posted that idea then deleted because, I realized that youwould probably have the problem that you have just stated.

Can you try to drag one pic at a time to recycle bin. These are all long shots, but eventually something will work.

If you turn off system restore all points will be deleted. You should make a new point immediatly, for safety, but a lot of space will be freed.

I am crossing my fingers, too.

I suggest this only so you know that there is a way to correct the problem. You can change the partition size. Type partition in search and follow the instructions.

It may take a bit of expertise to do this, so I suggest that you wait until all other remedies are exhausted. You would also make a system restore point first, for safety.

Here is a post about increasing the volume size

Richard (and anyone else that experiences this issue)
I found the solution to my problem at the following link:

Recovery D full. - DELL COMMUNITY

Basically, it was a simple fix. Go to Start and click COMPUTER. When it opens right click Recovery D then click open. A list of files should appear and if one has your name delete it.

Issue closed for me :)
