Speeding Up Performance In Vista

I'm going through the "Speeding Up Vista Performance" tutorial and was wondering which of these features I can disable (not sure what they mean or if I'm using them). Thanks.

Hello Fred,

It depends on whether you need them or not. If you are unsure, it's best to leave them as is to avoid having something not work all of a sudden. This only turns them off and does not uninstall them, so it doesn't save any HDD drive space.

I would recommend to Google them to see if you want to turn them off, or try turning them off one at time to see if everything you want is still running properly.

To be safe, create a restore point before each one in case you have to do a system restore to fix it.

Thanks. Will disabling these items improve the performance of my system (speed)? This would be the only reason I would disable them. Also, after Googling these items, it seems that they are related to computers which are participating in a network which I am not.

Unchecking some of these may eliminate having a process running in the background that you do not use. It may help only slightly with performance.

If you still want to, then from only the ones that have check marks in your images above, I would uncheck all but the "Tablet PC Optional Components".
